When business energy comparison specialists Love Energy Savings conducted a survey on attitudes to increased use of nuclear energy, the responses suggested that 40 per cent of the British public don’t know enough about the subject to have an informed opinion.
Love Energy Savings polled 750 people as part of a campaign to educate the public on nuclear power.
“Given nuclear power’s growing prominence in the energy industry, it was surprising to discover that so many people don’t understand the subject enough to make an informed decision on whether they support its use,” said Phil Foster, managing director of Love Energy Savings.
The research comes after new government statistics showed that low-carbon sources accounted for 39 per cent of all electricity generated in the UK in 2014, with nuclear making up 48 per cent of this.
